Bottom line, it's good, but not much better then the 2500k and 2600k. Let's hope it brings the prices down on them

Thanks for posting those reviews A Guy. Will take a look at them later when I get home from work. I got an e-mail from NewEgg yesterday showing the prices for these new CPU's and I just shook my head. No way would I spend a $1000 on the 3960. I thought I spent too much with my new build as it is!

Thank you A Guy! Now if I can only get my "rich uncle" to buy one for me!

Considering you could put together a decent I5 2500k base unit for the same sort of price, I don't think this will appeal to anyone who places any importance on the phrase 'value for money'.

I was thinking along the same lines. If I were to build another PC for the same amount of money as I spent last summer, I would do pretty much the same thing. I would still rather put the extra money into an SSD, higher end GPU and a full tower case.

This CPU will be a winner for anyone who works with large, multithreaded applications, and can take advantage of all the quad channel ram. But for 95%+ of people, an i5, i7 system will be a much better choice. A Guy

I think the i5 2500K will be plenty good enough for me.
