My Thermaltake USB 3.0 HDD Dock arrived today and so far I am very pleased. It was very easy to setup and install. No driver software was necessary. I first plugged it into the integrated USB 3.0 ports on the back my PC and copied a 6 Gb file onto it. The transfer speed was around 60 to 65 Mbs/second which is comparable to what I get with my SATA II Dock. I also have two USB 3.0 ports in the front of my PC that came with my Coolermaster Haf X case and can be plugged into a separate USB 3.0 port on my Asus MB. What a difference that made. I got data transfers of bewteen 85 to 95 Mbs/second on my SATA II HDD and between 110 to 120 Mbs/seconds on my SATA III HDD. I don't know why there is such a large discrepancy between USB ports, but I'm very glad I decided to check both out.

Hey Uncle Bear that sounds really good. Thank you for the update.

You are welcome Buddy. I think this dock will work very well for you also, as you have the same USB 3.0 panel that I do.

I don't know why there is such a large discrepancy between USB ports
The first thing I thought of when I read that was "probably running on a different chipset", but then remembered your board, if it's skt 1155, will have an aftermarket chip running all USB 3 ports anyway. May be a driver issue (there are a lot of dodgy USB 3 drivers about), or a BIOS option / bug.

Glad to see my estimation in post #2 wasn't too far out...

Thanks for the info hal. I checked the status of all my USB dirvers and they were up to date, so I will have to wait and see if a new version comes out in the future. It isn't that the read/write speed of the integrated USB 3 ports is that bad. In fact when I tried writing another file using one of those rear ports I actually got between 60 to 80 Mbs/sec., which is still pretty good. Anyway, I have the front ports to use so it really doesn't matter.

My dad decided to buy a Thermaltake USB 3 HDD Dock and I get to use it too. It works great on my new PC and I am getting read/write speeds between 130 to 150 Mbs/sec.
