Computer restarts on its own

i know your problem it has happened to me also if you want to solve these problem scan ur computer for virus using f-prot antivirus or install the windows once more

my computer gets restarted whenever i insert a cd or dvd please help me or
tell me any software which can diagnose my computer and tell the problem correctly.

deepak, try inserting the cd or dvd in Safe Mode. See if it restarts there or not. I suspect that it is a hardware problem.

Whenever I try to shut down my computer, it restarts on its own. I don't know what's wrong with it(it does this everytime i click the shut down button on the start menu)

i think its a virus.. BRONTOK virus.. because i had this problem before..try to see your "start up" menu if there's "empty" filename. if it is present then it is a BRONTOK virus.

There was the same problem in my college auditorium PC, it will restart when ever we shutit down and it also pop up an IE window displaying BRONTOK virus now and then. We were no allowed to acces it, the system admin idiot formated the whole HDD to to fix that problem. It had a lot of hell raising virus!
