Hey dhammikapieris, if you have xp (and assuming the driver for the VGA card is installed) then follow the steps below,

1.) first right click anywhere on desktop
2.) then click "properties" on the very bottom
3.) now click the very last tab of display properties, "settings"
4.) then click on right bottom button "advanced"
    5.) now click "adapter" tab
6.) viola, there's Chip type, DAC type, Memory size, Adapter string, and Bios information

    Another method provided by Raymond:

You can also check that in BIOS, or your motherboard manufacturer's website.

When you boot your system it normally gives you a message along the lines of - Press "Esc" or "F2" or "Del" to enter the menu.

This menu let you change settings in your BIOS and also give you basic information about your system.

Do not change settings in the BIOS if you do not know what you are doing please.
