Intel has finally announced the release date for its first quad-core processor for laptops, a few days after one PC vendor started taking pre-orders for a system based on the high-end processor.

Australian PC vendor Pioneer Computers released details of its first quad-core laptop last week – the DreamBook Style 9008, which is available on the company's site, features Intel's Core 2 Extreme QX9300 chip. At that time, Intel hadn't officially commented on the Core 2 Extreme QX9300's release date.

Now, a company executive has revealed that the chip with ship next month. "We're bringing quad-core to mobile in August," said Sujan Kamran, regional marketing manager for client platforms at Intel in Singapore. Kamran declined to disclose specifics of the quad-core chip, which will carry Intel's Core 2 Extreme moniker.

It would need another cooling fan on the bottom. That way the thing won't set on fire.

Intel's Quads are using much less power now. the Q9300 uses newer technologies that consume much less.
Mankind hates what it fears, and fears what it cannot understand.
Therefore, hatred is a by-product of ignorance!
