I am contemplating between Acer, HP, Compaq and Dell. Which notebook should I buy?
If I have an option to buy a 2nd hand unit with warranty left 5-6 months, how much should it cost in term of percentage decrease?
If anyone of you are thinking to sell your notebook, please do message me.
Thanks.

how do you determine which one is good? All of you are saying dell or hp without writing down the valid reasons, for example, buy dell because of service etc...
is 2nd hand unit with warranty left 5-6 months is a good buy?

I don't trust 2nd hand as far as computer stuffs are concerned unless you get it at throw away price.
And reasons, you'll have to figure out yourself. I say that Dell is good because many of my friends have them & I have personally used & compared it with HP & Lenovo. I haven't tried Acer though.
HP Pavillion series is good but not as good as Dell XPS. HP Compaq- not in the scene, it's entry level stuff.
And Dell is the market leader in laptop industry. It has great Value for Price.

i have acer and dell both with perty close to same specs minus graphics dell has dedicated acer not
if you are not going to play a game get the acer and save some money but if you want to play any games like WoW Witcher or stalker go for the dell it will play any top end games but must have dedicated graphics

OK, this could take a while - but it might be worth it. So here is my strategy how to decide on a laptop.
First of all you list all criteria that are important to you when buying a laptop (like RAM, price, HDD, processor, drive etc.)
Then you define minimum requirements (for example if the laptop has to have a bluray-drive).
In the next step you assign values to the criteria (for example 1-10 with 1= not so important, 10=vital).
Then you look at some of the models that fulfill your minimum requirements and rate them according to your criteria list (again for example 1-10 with 1=very bad to 10=excellent).
Then multiply the first and the second values and add up the results.
The laptop with the highest number is the winner!!
Of course you also have to take into consideration other factors that cannot be rated easily (ease of use, design ...)
I hope that helped a little!

Go for Dell or HP. Both has better quality than Acer and Compaq.
