    Hi,

I changed to a new hardisk 1 year ago. Currently it's a 80GB SATA Hard disk from Toshiba.

The weird thing here is, it is very noisy. I really have no idea what is going on. It makes noise very often and it's very unusual thing for a laptop.

    Any solutions?

    Regards,
    Zepx

Have you dropped or bumped your laptop hard?

Is it a bad noise? (Meaning, a scratchy or whiny noise vs. just a loud noise)

Does it do it all the time as soon as you boot up?

It happens a few minutes after boot up. Probably around 15 minutes, then it begins to go scratch sound like. Very noisy. Worst than a fan.

I've not checked for bad sectors, but I doubt there would be any.

Well, if it sounds like it's scratching, then my guess is that it's physically damaged. But apparently not enough for it to still be able to contain data and be read (which means you are lucky).

If it was my laptop, I would definitely get a new hard drive and transfer your data to a portable device and buy a new hard drive. Personally, I wouldn't take any chances, so that's what I would do.

Just wondering, when you navigate through Windows Explorer (double-clicking though all your folders) does it kinda hang up, or take a long time?
