    Hi,
When I plug in my Moserbaer 2 GB USB drive, autoplay options does not appear instead Windows Explorer opens the removable disk window.Because of this,I have disabled autoplay from control panel.
When I open autoplay from the context menu in Computer by right clicking removable disk,I see that I haven't enabled any particular task;actually I could not find any option there.I used the AutoFix tool mentioned in the blog:
    http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2007/11/14/fix-autoplay-dialog-box-not-appearing-when-plug-in-external-device/
But when I select removable disk and press next, the program stops working.I use Vista Home Basic and may the program is not compatible with it.Also, when I try to format it,Windows says it was unable to format it.After I do quick format and plug in the USB,autoplay options appear but only once. After I transfer some files into it and then plug it back, windows explorer opens the removable disk window as before. Please help.
    Thanks!

I believe this happens because the first action taken is saved. Hence when you plug it in again, it'll perform what you choosed the first time. Try this, right click your USB Drive, select Properties, and under the Autoplay tab, choose the Prompt me each time to choose an action.

    Note:
The suggestion is based on Windows XP.

    Hi,
There is no Autoplay tab in properties, but there is an option to open autoplay in context menu. But it does not have "Prompt me each time to choose an action" listed.I am running Vista Home Basic.
Some time before,I had to forcefully shut down the computer when the USB was used for readyboost. After reboot, windows reported it did not have the qualities for readyboost.I found some methods like editing the registry which temporarily solves the problem but it cannot be used for readyboost after some time.If I remember correctly, the present problem did not appear immediately.I am not sure if it is related to the present problem.

Edit:The problem got solved somehow automatically. But the autoplay dialog box still does not give an option to select a default action. This problem has been solved before and had again appeared.I don't know if it will happen again.
    Thanks!
