My Motherboard Got Screwed After A Brownout

Its weird, but my computers motherboard got busted after a simple brownout. It wasn't even turned on during the brownout. I have a UPS so why would it suddenly be busted?

Maybe it's because of "after" the brownout, the power would go back up causing a spike which your UPS couldn't handle it.

strange.. does that ups give protecrion against that spikes? in that case, shouldn't be busted even the ups and the PSU? (or at least the psu)

I am no expert in power stuff but one of the place that I worked in has like 500 computers all protected by APC UPS. There are a few rare cases that the UPS is fine but the power supply went dead. I suspect that the UPS might have some problems but it's tough to proof it.

Yes, i know, but how could both UPS and PSU work fine and the motherboard not? Or the motherboard went broken for other reason, or it's not broken.
