Hi,
The readyboost feature was working for mu moserbaer 2 GB pendrive but it stopped working after I had to forcefully shut down the system by pressing the power button.I had switched users and was not able to log off afterwards. This problem occurred a very long time ago.I thought I would ask it now.

hey Albin
so now you want to enable back your readyboost?Did you check if your pendrive is working fine?
try this step to check if it is enable on your machine
Follow these steps to enable ReadyBoost:
1. Plug in USB storage device.
2. Go to Computer, right-click on the removable storage device and select Properties.
3. Click on the ReadyBoost tab.
4. Select Use This Device and set the amount of space to use for the system file.
5. Click OK.
anyway , this is a trick for you to enable readyboost even your pendrive does not support readyboost,
1. Let Vista test it, and check the Do not Retest this device checkbox.
2. Unplug the device
3. Go to regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EMDMgmt
4. Find the key related to you device (the device vendor and name is in the key)
5. Change the follwing values:
Device Status 0×02
ReadSpeedKBs 0×1000
WriteSpeedKBs 0×1000
6. Plug the device, right click on it to open properties and enable cache.

In the readyboost tab it is given that the device does not have the required performance features.I found many subkeys with two question marks but they do not give the product info.
Should I run regedit as admin? Is paste feature enabled in the reply?
Thanks!

yup it should be something like this _??_USBSTOR#Disk&Ven_SanDisk&Prod_Cruzer_Micro&Rev_0.1# <-- this is an example >
you can see the name and the brand of your pendrive , as well as if u have assign name to you pendrive.
for Regedit , i suggest that you run it as admin

There are 10 entries like:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EMDMgmt\_??_USBSTOR#Disk&Ven_USB_2.0&Prod_Flash_Disk&Rev_0.00#7637df36f1a253&0#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}_1213127539

They differ only in the last number.I had seen a similar method earlier but it stops working afterwards. This was given for usb drives which don't have the performance features.

Albin , if it is hard to play around the regedit , then you should give this a try

Will there be any compatibility problems with CleanMem?Should I delete the earlier entries and then insert the USB drive?
