*Lifetime protection key is valid for the computer you first install it on, for the lifetime of the machine, not exceeding 5 years.

So the lifetime license is actually a 5 years license and is machine dependent.

Thinking about it logically, a 4 year old computer may be a little too underpowered to handle future version of Bitdefender.
