    I remember using version 9 and loving it... but I've switched to 7zip and never looked back.

    as seen on the site 7-zip, the data comparison is better in terms of compression ratio. Apart from free on appeal (Winrar and Winzip are equally well known). Maybe that's one reason that makes many people turn to 7-zip.

    From what I've noticed, many end users like 7-Zip but developers, coders and programmers prefers WinRAR.

    Yes, each has its advantages and its own advantages. In general, people would be hard to avoid something that is free but has sufficient capability or maybe even more..

    I find that's mostly because they like .rar and use that the most for the compressed file formats.

    I'd go to WinRAR if it has better compression, but .7z seems to compress my files the best, to become the smallest. Might try WinRAR again soon and see what happens.

    Solin, no offense, but I'd take what WinZip says with a grain of salt. If you ask the developers of WinRAR, WinZIP, 7-Zip and KGB Archiver, you'd get four different answers.

    i've had no problems with winrar so i'll probably stick with that

    I am a 7-Zip user myself. But I might give this version of a try, it been awhile since I have used WinZip.
    Linux Distro at the moment Fedora 17 / Firefox 12.0
