I will need to download and burn the CD then try that this weekend.

Just upgraded to 9.0.4. Now I am having a problem.

It put no network detected. Now everytime I log into ubuntu, I need to go terminal and type sudo pppoeconf. How to solve it?
Then my update manager put one update. But I can't get it. What to do?

If it's grayed out like that, it's a backport. Go to your Software Sources (System>Administration>Software Sources), then to the third tab, then check off
Unsupported Updates (Janty-Backports)
As for your dial up issue, can you run try pppoeconf without sudo? sudo might be putting your configuration only for the root/sudo part of your system. If that doesn't work, post on Ubuntu's forums. They know far more then I do over dial up.

Downloaded 9.04 from the Ubuntu site twice fron different servers...burned the ISO's to disk and then carried out a disk check for errors. 1 error was found on both disks. Is this what is possibly causing Ubuntu to freeze when running on my system? I have not done a fresh install as the burned disks have that 1 error showing..

When you burnt the CD did you burn the disk at the slowest speed possible?

I burned mine at max speed and have never received any issues. Perhaps it's your burner or your drive? What style and brand of drive do you use? And what program do you use to burn?
