    Permission denied (13)...

Trying to save some files on a Vista machine, and used the BitDefender RescueCD which has File Manager Midnight Commander.

Created directories, mounted drives, etc, MC shows what needs copied, but when a file is to be copied from the source (Windows HDD) to its destination (USB pen drive), get:
Cannot created target file xxxxx, Permission denied (13).

    Any clues?

    Your help is appreciated!! Thanks!!

    Thanks for the reply, hellnoire!

    Yes, Vista shut down correctly.

Was wondering about using SubInACL for the file permissions in Vista....

SubInACL might work, but I can't see it working, you can try though. And I assume the flash drive is formatted to FAT32, as most are... try formatting it to NTFS if you can, if you can't, try FAT. Those two are well supported under both OSes.

As for the reply, not a problem. I'm trying to learn Linux Foo, you know, the Art of the Penguin
