Ubuntu 10.04 Installation Using Virtual PC on Windows 7 pro x86
I am trying to install ubuntu 10.04 under virtual pc but nothing seems happening. After pointing to ISO installation window only prompts for selection of language and then whether to preview demo / install OS. After that window simply disappears. Is Virtual PC is only compatible with or supports MS OSs or is there any provision to install other distro's (like Solaris / Linux). If it supports can you point me to right link to get detailed instructions of installation.

Why don't you try install it on VMware. I have installed it on VMware and it works fine.

VirtualPC is a Microsoft Product... Linux isn't made by Microsoft...
I think you see where I'm going with this, or at least, I hope so. Because if I have to spell it out for you, I'm not going to be rather pleased.
Use VMWare Player or VirtualBox, but never again use Virtual PC unless you're using MS on MS.

Thanks for the update. Have seen few links on net, but those are some work arounds (definitely not direct approach). Hence thought of reconfirming in this forum. Recently my company replaced office laptop with new one (windows 7 pro) and I was just exploring possible options to install linux in virtual mode.
Any suggesstions which one is better (VMWare Player or Virtual Box) on my Windows 7 laptop?

I've used both and I'd have to say I like VirtualBox more... but that's because some times, VMWare Player has messed up royally on me. I've got friends that swear the reverse too... so try both and see which you like better.
