I suppose that it is inevitable that some malware is being designed for Linux Distros, but I doubt that it will ever get worse than it is for Microsoft, just because of the huge market share they hold.

A similarly infected Windows file in the wild would be detected within days if not hours after a routine virus scan by someone checking the download before installing it.

I'm calling BS on that comment, only because I know I've seen timed malware that a lot of vendors have missed, private malware, etc.

It's about time a backdoor was found in Linux but the source code should have been checked sooner by someone. Pretty bad mark to Linux, or at least Gentoo.

We found out that the Unreal3.2.8.1.tar.gz file on our mirrors has been replaced quite a while ago with a version with a backdoor (trojan) in it.

This backdoor allows a person to execute ANY command with the privileges of the user running the ircd. The backdoor can be executed regardless of any user restrictions (so even if you have passworded server or hub that doesn’t allow any users in).
