A question about Fedora 13.
I installed Fedora a couple of days ago and everything went off well, except when I tried to execute a sudo command via the terminal. I get an error message that states my user name is not on "sudoer list", their terminolgy not mine. I've installed a fair number of Linux Distros to try out, but haven't come across this error message before, so can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
John

I believe, if I remember right, Fedora uses a root/user relationship, not a user/superuser like Ubuntu. So like Salix, su should be used to elevate you to root, not sudo.
pacman -Syyu life not found in sync db

Right you are Paul. Thanks

Most Linux distros don't use sudo, Ubuntu's one of the notable exceptions. However, all will allow for sudo setups... here's a Fedora example on setting it up.

Thanks Paul, but I'll just stick with su -c instead of changing it to sudo. I'm still learning something new about Linux Distros every day it seems.

Haha, you think I'm not? I always learn from distros... what to, and what not.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one!

So far, I am very impressed with Fedora. At least on my PC, it's seems to be as light on resources as Salix and I've found it to be almost as user friendly as Ubuntu. Thanks to Hellnoire's review, setting up restricted codecs was easy. I have Fedora in a dual boot with Ubuntu 9.10.
Can't seem to break an old habit.

Hey, 9.10 was the last good release of Ubuntu IMO, so don't worry. I certainly preferred Xubuntu 9.10 over 10.04.... what a disappointment it was.

For me, Ubuntu 9.10 seems to be lighter and faster than 10.04, but I have to say, Fedora is the fastest Linux Distro I've tried on my machine, even faster than Salix, which is saying quite a lot. Even the light weight Distros like Puppy aren't any faster. Of course, if I had an older, slower PC I'm sure I would see the difference.
