Hmm... seems interesting enough to have your updates done while installing. But it will take longer to install if you don't install close to release date so... it's hit/miss to do that if you ask me.

The last time I installed Ubuntu 10.04 from a live cd, it took much longer than 9.04, because it needed to download some files during installation. Language packs is one of them that comes to mind. I didn't like it then and I don't think I'll like it in 10.10 either. I prefer to install a basic package and customize it. Looks like I'll be stayiing with Fedora for the immediate future.
