Opinions about Ubuntu 10.10
What do you guys think about 10.10? Is it a major improvement from 10.04? I wasn't able to intall it on my PC due to hardware issues and I'm not sure I want it on my laptop, which unlike my PC, was able to boot up the live cd.
There may be a bit of snow on the roof, but there is still a fire blazing in the hearth!

I haven't upgraded as yet John from what i read about it that the casual user will not see any great changes, but developers would see an advantage, im hoping for a better user experience as i haven't run Linux for long, maybe you can install it to an external disk as a suggestion from a complete noob

Jay, I have an esata loading dock that I can use with my laptop, but I waiting for some feedback from other users to see if it was worth the effort. For whatever reason, 10.10 doesn't like the graphics card on my PC, so I can't run it like I normally do with Linux distros.

Well, I am am currently running Fedora 13 on my PC and I like it, because its a bit lighter on resourses than Ubuntu. I also have Salix installed on a spare HDD. These 2 are my personal favorites, but they both require a bit more effort to set up and use. Oh yeah, I also have Puppy Linux and Slax, which are both quite small in size, installed on a flash drive. I guess it all depends on what you want to do with Linux. I like to experiment with something thats different than Windows as a learning experience, but if all you want is something that's easy to use, then stay with Ubuntu, or you could even try Mint.

Just my experience with running them both on the same PC Neo. For one thing, I found that Fedora didn't come with all the built in applications like Ubuntu, some of which I didn't want. I prefer to start with just a basic setup and configure things the way I like. In that regard, Ubuntu caters more to Windows users.

Fedora is definitely lighter then Ubuntu... the better question I have to ask is there anything heavier then Ubuntu in the Linux world? (Well, other then Kubuntu, but that's a cardinal sin...)
