I see there is an Alpha build due out in December LizardMan are you going to give it a run ? i will leave that to the experts here

This "expert" is staying with Salix. Believe me.... I keep hearing worse and worse news about Ubuntu recently thanks to a fellow offline penguin (offline Linux friend) and believe me: I will not return except to run Server Edition only because it is supported longer then Debian.

For me, Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 live cds did not show desktop after boot. I am getting a feeling that ubuntu is becoming bloated.

I'm not running it for now, there are no much changes from the 10.10 version.

I agree. I was finally able to boot the 10.10 desktop from live cd after installing a new DVD drive with a SATA interface.

UBUNTU: it becoming better and better aesthetically Apple-like. Yes, I've seen the increased on its weight this time,esp if you're box is 5-7 years older. I wish it could be more lighter like it used to be and enhanced certain features too...having some issue on the latest stable build.
