I'd rather be fishing!
Thanks for the info Indra. It doesn't come as much of a surprise that Ubuntu has gotten so popular. I would still use it myself if it hadn't gotten so bloated. Been happy with Mandriva myself even though it isn't listed as a popular Linux OS here.

Believe they mean the environment, are you using it at home, at work, at school, etc.
I've very pleased with Arch and Mandriva, but I think I'll be throwing Arch on my desktop. Despite it's rolling releases and partial unstability, it seems to work beautifully for me.

I am very happy with my Ubuntu 11.04. I have tried many distros on virtual machines and this one is a keeper. I ditched windows and haven't looked back. I haven't tried Mandriva maybe I will give it a try. Good work INDRANIL.
Linux Distro at the moment Fedora 17 / Firefox 12.0

Mandriva is quite a bit lighter then Ubuntu while keeping semi-user friendly too. So you might enjoy it.

Red Hat isn't cheap, but is considered an industry standard.
CentOS is free, and is a better choice, since they make sure to remain fully compatible with Red Hat.

It seems like Arch Linux doesn't support signed packages. Is it secure enough? Some details here and here which I got from wikipedia.

I'm aware. However, the only question is more if you trust the person compiling it or not. Besides, presently, Ubuntu and Mint and whatnot have quite a bit more issues, and then there was the GNOME-Look issue... they're supposed to all be using signed packages, yet viruses and badware and crackers still get in.
So it's a case of using what you prefer really, sm1. I personally prefer Arch, but if I get infected, I imagine nothing in the world could really help me, minus some anti-keylogger, which is what I run anyway. But the same could/would also go for other distros too.
