The package updater seems to work just fine and the repository for new app's is pretty extensive, but no where close to Ubuntu. Thats alright, as I don't like having a lot of extra stuff installed anyway. So far, I will give Salix a

Sounds good Uncle Bear! I am really looking forward to trying Salix myself!

Had a feeling you'd like it. It's one of those really nice distros that only comes along once in a blue moon.

Arch is still my choice, but when my Acer comes back, I might install Salix on there, that or Arch.

Once I get use to Salix, maybe I'll give Arch a try.

Arch can be a bit of a nightmare to some people, but if you follow the documentation, not much can go wrong.

I downloaded a pdf file with instructions for Salix and it helped to walk me through the installation and setup process with not much trouble.

Oh BTW, thanks for the tip on Salix!

Never a problem. Not many people need or want Linux help, but it's what I'm the best at

I am really bad about asking for help, unless I just can't figure something out for myself. Don't know whether its the German, Norwegian, or Irish ancestry in me.

Is Chakra linux (which is based on Arch) more user friendly than Arch? Any opinion about it?
