There's not so much virus in linux...
For desktop, I think Windows is still nice to play with. But for server, linux rules!

It's not really a question about good or bad.
Linux is written as an alternative OS and uses open codes unlike Windows which is not. The reason Linux is perceived as safer than Windows is because >75% of Pc's in the world runs on Windows giving malicious scripts a larger target to aim at. However, Linux OS have more flexibility which makes it a user configurable OS. U can decide how safe or unsafe u want it to be. Windows, however is Windows! It's a commercial software and literally thousands of third party softwares companies depend on it for a living. The great unspoken secret of Windows is of course the hidden user configuration pages.
U can try to tweak it to be the safest OS around or screw it up and be prepared to re-format by doing this.
Start>Run:gpedit.msc............Enjoy!

For me, if your computer will just work for internet and typing dopcuments, you can use Linux, it is the best of all since only a little virus can infect it. But if you are a software lover and uses a lot of softwares, Windows may be the best since a lot of softwares especially those unknown ones can only support Windows. As Webber have said, many third party softwares depend on it.
