Same here. I leave it in my vehicle as an emergency phone in case of break down...or to call my wife to see if any grocery items are needed on the way home from work. It is always left turned off though.

I don't use mobile phone theft protection. I am sure that if someone steals my phone, I won't recuperate it anymore. So, I keep a close eye on my phone.

Search is good to hear, hard to impliment

Theft protection is one of the popular marketing points (read it : Marketing gimix) at least in my country. As to impliments theft protection for a mobile you need (which is essential) insertion of your mobile number where you want SMS in case of theft (which most of the people is not aware of it, some are doing but they are putting same number what they are using in same handset) second even if you had given another number in case of theft when you got the SMS you need to follow long-long procedure so in 95% cases people don't want to go through that way. Third with mobile the trend is to change/swap handset with new (in most cases there is no paper dealing) how there is anybody can claim in that situation. So like most of members are saying keep close eyes and hand on your mobile rather believe on theft protection...

But it is not prevalent compare to computer virus. It only affects Symbian OS phones like Nokia and the other brand that uses the same technology.
