Apple wins "permanent" ban on German sales of Samsung tablet
Samsung must not sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany because it looks too much like Apple's iPad 2, the district court in Dusseldorf ruled on Friday.
In addition, Samsung Germany may not sell the device in any other European Union country, although other Samsung divisions may sell into those countries, a spokesman at the court said.
Samsung will appeal the decision in the Dusseldorf Higher Regional Court, a spokesman said.
"We are disappointed with this ruling and believe it severely limits consumer choice in Germany," he said via email

Honestly I am slightly disappointed in the decision because this seems too much like a corporate quarrel.
Let the best prduct win and do not hide behind advertising and legalities. Only hope other countries have more sense than this court.

Imagine if car and bike designs are patented the manufacturers will be arguing cases for matters like the design is copied as the competitor also has a round steering, has four wheels, has breaks, clutch, gears in the same order etc

LOL. In all honesty the ipad has been the best tablet on the market (from what I have read) since its inception and the Galaxy seems to be the first real threat to its "dominance"

That would indeed be a legal nightmare!

Now Samsung will counter sue accusing Apple of infringing some patents owned by Samsung. This is becoming very common in mobile industry. Then both companies will settle their issues with technology swap agreements or paying royalties.

And people wonder why I support FL\OSS.
Since when have software patients helped a market grow? Never? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Believe it or not you are bang on with that comment sm1 this has happened if you look at American history one reason the major companies had to made smaller as they where bigger than the government and ideas have been taken and implemented and patents argued about.
Even Skoda are cheaper versions of their German counterparts and you will often see vw stamps, VW own Skoda even Mazda and Ford traded ideas and parts, which has worked better than PC Industry.
When Asus launched their rampage boards you could see alot of copies followed, but Apple take the biscuit i think....... and can't see me becoming a fan anytime soon.
i like Samsung and wish them well, maybe if they are more competitive with there pricing we may see a swing from the IPad and bring balance to the market.
No company should be allowed to monopolize
