Verizon selling Galaxy Nexus Thursday for $299
The date many phone nuts have been waiting for is Thursday, December 15. Yes, tomorrow. That's when Verizon Wireless will (finally) offer the Samsung Galaxy Nexus — the first Googlephone with Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich.
We've had an international version of the phone, which we've enjoyed, but it doesn't have the high-speed 4G LTE connection, offering 5 to 12 megabits per second download speeds, that this U.S.-targeted Verizon version has. It also has a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a 4.65-in. 720p high-def Super AMOLED display, and a slender design that's less than 0.4 inches in thickness.
Verizon has an interesting deal available to new customers of its 4G service. If you sign up for a 4G data plan, you can get double the data for the same fee: Signing up for the 2GB $30 plan means you'll get 4GB. It applies only to customers who are getting a new contract on a 4G phone, so it doesn't apply to iPhone owners (because they're on 3G), and it doesn't apply to anybody who is already under contract with a 4G phone from Verizon, unless they're buying a second one.
As expected, the Galaxy Nexus will sell for $299.99 with a 2-year contract. There will soon be more information on the phone at this Verizon Web page.

My dad is thinking about getting this phone for his work and I was wondering if it was a good deal, or not.
Any input would be appreciated.
In loving memory of my Grandpa John and Great Uncle Barry.

Hi Buddy. I found this article and it looks like the Verizon plan is probably for the Samsung Galaxy is in line with costs for the i Phone.
[QUOTE]According to Verizon, besides that $299.99 price for the phone, a subscription to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan is required, with prices starting at $39.99 per month. In addition, you’ll need a data plan, priced at a minimum $30 per month for 2GB of data. Doing a bit of simple math, we figured that the monthly tariff not including the phone, fees and tax will start at $69.99, but if you figure in the cost of the phone, over a two-year contract you’ll be paying a total of $1979.75, or $82.48 per month, not including taxes and fees.

Thanks Uncle Bear. I will show this to dad. He can write it off as a business expense, so that helps to lower the overall cost.

Ask your dad if he can write one off for me, as a business expense!

I can ask him, but I won't any promises!
