I've seen "karaoke" software that claims to do that but I've never tried it.

The problem is that 99% of songs (mp3s, wavs etc...) are in stereo.
Before a song is released the same had to be mixed and then mastered.

Meaning that all the channels that were recorded are "molten" into one (mono) or two (stereo) channels.
After that there is no way that you could extract single channels.

I think that if there is any software it's based on frequencies and these can be separated but that doesn't separate single instruments/vocals...

So what you would get would be a bunch of senseless audio...

Still if you find something that proves me wrong please do post ;)
    Something to remember...

One time, I was fooling around with an equalizer, and I some how managed to get only the vocals and no music. I did some more foolin' around and got it to play only music. This was a long time ago and I think I was using Nero's SoundTrax.
