Every time you install software it will make changes to your PC. Most of the time they are just making registry entries that just control the options on the program.

If the program is on sites like Download.com for download then it is safe.

BSPlayer is a safe software. However, BSPlayer Free version does come bundled with an Adware. The Pro version is free from all nags.
So, it's your choice whether to use it with Adware or not. I would say NO. Use VLC Media Player instead

BS Player is very good media player. Also my KIS reported it like untrusted software, I believe that is because it comes with some codecs. I solved this by selecting the option "limit" while installing in KIS. I'm using the pro version and I'm very very happy with it, there is no adware. Oh yeah, it is not genuine.

WinAmp and VLC are extremely stable and are worthwhile replacements for BSPlayer if you want to replace it. I've never met someone who actually used it though (BSPlayer).
