Concerns about VPN
The company I worked for uses VPN to access an AS400 server in it's sister company. All computers are connected to the router that is granted access to to the server. Although the two company networks have different IP range, I can still see the computers in the other network using Angry IP scanner. Worse, I can access some computers' shared files. That also means those people from the other network can access our files. I don't know much about VPN but I don't think it's good practice to allow other people from another network access your computers. What should be done in this situation?

You can always configure your firewall, when you connect to the VPN, to a public setting, which would block people from coming into your computer. That way, it thinks it's a public area, which would then let you block them from coming in.

thanks. But lets say, one of the network was hacked, the other network would easily be compromise, right?

If your firewall is set to private, no, since they'd need to then attack that to get to you. Also, despite the fact they might have sister companies, normally, it's set up a little differently at each one, so they can prevent people that get into one, to get into others.
