WIFI connecting problem in XP
However I've been facing this problem. I am never able to connect to the internet through wifi in any of the laptops that are running XP.
Laptops with vista run wifi just fine.
But XP doesnt. Even if i enter the password it resets itself to some other longer password and just says "validating identity".
Please help me out in this case.
PS. My router says it supports XP.
Also these XP laptops work fine with wifi in ither places such as my office.

Hi
1- Start
2- clic on execute
3- add this %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s
4-Go to automatic configuration
5- Type automatic start
6- clic on run and let your connection to be settled with your wifi and have the internet connection
Possible you have an ip conflict
http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm
Please look on your Start Menu>Programs to see if you have an
Intel>Intel PROSet program installed. If not, you can download and
install it:
http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/pro2200bg/sb/CS-008179.htm
Using the information that starts on page 3 of the PDF version of the
manual, you will need to do the following:
1. Disable Windows XP Zero Config and enable Intel PRO Set to manage
your wireless settings
2. Create an unique profile for your home network (if you have not
already changed your Linksys router's SSID, now is the time to do so
in order to make your network unique from any neighbors' networks)
3. Set the PRO Set software to "Connect to available networks using
profiles only", and select the unique profile you created.
some says to check the security
The solution was that to select a "Better" security in my router and NOT use the "None", "Good" or "Best" securitys.

IP conflict is what came to mind for me, also. Almost all routers are compatible with XP although some may not be (I can't think of one).
Also make sure that DHCP is enabled on the router. If it's not and the laptop is asking for an address, that could be your problem.
Also just for giggles goto:
Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections Tab>Lan settings and check the box next to "Automatically detect settings".
