LAN to WiFi

Hello everybody,

I have a technical question. I have an internet connection at home. I use direct cable to connect to the internet since I don't have a wireless router. My question is can I convert my laptop to a wireless hotspot for the LAN I am using on. In other words, LAN to WLAN hotspot. I don't know if adhoc is able to solve the problem.
All of this, because I want to have a wireless network at home to connect my mobile through without the need to buy a wireless router.
