How do i connect ext.usb drive to PS3 and 2 computers

Hello guys and girls, i have a question, i just got a 1tb ext. HD, i want to save movies in it,and watch them through my PS3.How do i connect it so not only my PS3 has access to it but my 2 computers could also,i have all 3 connected through a wired router, i found out that connecting the hard drive to the router did not work, i want the usb drive to be accesible to the PS3 without the computers having to be turned on.Hope i gave you enough information.Thx for your help.

You will need a hardware for it.
Either you get an external case that supports NAS or you can an adapter.
