Cannot lookup OpenDNS
I have done the following to setup Opendns in Windows 7 fresh installation.
In Local Area Connection- TCP/IPv4-Properties I have setup to look up
208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Checked 'Validate upon exit'. Rebooted windows.
OpenDNS verification always fails. Have I done the settings correctly?
Please help. Thanks.

Why did you check off verification? Is that what they told you?
I personally would leave it unchecked myself, and just use it like that unless they told you otherwise. And that looks like the right IPs for the DNS... so that would be my logic.

Thanks for your reply.
I have a doubt that whether I am using OpenDNS or not?
I am using it in Linux Mint. Verification is successful. I think it fails in Windows 7 (for me).

Might just be Windows 7 being unable to verify it for itself. Again, turn off verification, because you did get OpenDNS's servers right.

Now I followed as you told me.
No luck. I am getting "Server not found" page for OpenDNS site.

Hmm, that's odd. I can't think of any reason it would do that... unless OpenDNS was down, but it's not...

May I know how are you connected to the Internet?
If you have a router, you will have to set the OpenDNS servers in your router.
If you are connected via PPPoE or PPP adapter, that's where you have to set the OpenDNS.

I am using a USB Dial up modem(named as SXC-1080 in my system) which directly connects to the internet. I am not behind a router.
As you told me I mentioned the DNS servers in this adapter and did a reboot).
Now I could connect to the opendns website.
But "http://welcome.opendns.com" page returns like this.
"Oops...
You aren't using OpenDNS yet.
Let's fix that. If you haven't restarted your computer yet, please do that now."
Where am I going wrong?
Now I checked the SXC-1080 for the settings.
The DNS settings has changed automatically to
"Obtain DNS servers automatically" after the reboot.
I think this is what creates the problem. How do I set it use OpenDNS permanently?

If you are using a USB dial up modem, then setting the DNS for Local Area Connection wouldn't work.
When you said "SXC-1080", do you mean you see that adapter in Windows Network Connections? Or is that a connection software provided for your dial up modem?

I see it under
Control Panel-Network and Internet-Network Connections.
I did the DNS settings in this SXC-1080. After a reboot the settings vanish and what I see is the default setup.
What to do now?
