Always getting 'Limited Connection' in LAN connection.
I have a problem regarding my onboard LAN card on my asus p5ql pro motherboard. Its always getting a 'Limited Connection' as my LAN status. My ISP techinician has already visited my house with his own notebook to check my connection but the connection of his notebook was fine. So I conclude that the issue is on my end not on my ISP.
And I am wondering why my VPC with XP os which is connected to my LAN NIC has an internet connection but my physical pc has no connection.
The following are the resolution that I have tried but the issue is still persists:
1. cmd > netsh winsock
2. cmd > ipconfig -flushdns
3. cmd > ipconfig /release
4. cmd > ipconfig /renew
5. update the driver of my LAN NIC for both system (XP and Win7).
6. update the bios of my motherboard.
7. Tried to format my system and create fresh install XP and Win7 but no luck.
Hope you guys can help me...
Thanks a lot...

sounds like you lan is faulty but if your vpc is connecting then i doubt it ,have u tried setting up a static ip address on the lan? heres a guide that shows u http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm
Out of my mind. I Haven't Lost My Mind, It's Backed Up On Disk Somewhere.

My suggestion would be the same as tangomouse. Try setting a static ip address instead of relying on DHCP server.

I wonder if the ISP that hisoka is using will allow him to set any static IPs.

Static IP for Local Area Connection, not WAN.

Connection' in LAN connection.
Try this http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
and if still persists, this may shock you.
My daughters laptop was doing the same thing, and sometimes would connect after leaving it for half an hour, then i tried something my mate told me, and it worked.
My daughter had the new avast free antivrus program, whic i uninstalled, and replaced with Microsoft Security Essentials, and cleaned up disks and registry with ccleaner. Re booted, and never had the problem again.Apparently, if you have anti spyware(malwarebytes, ad remover etc) on your pc with any free av such as avast, it causes problems in XP. I have never heard of it, but had nothing to lose, and it worked! Let us know mate, would be interesting.

It's a month old post, I don't think OP's suffering any more. (Might have done a reinstall).
All the same, I'm locking the thread. If OP needs it re-opened, they can always PM me, or write a new one.
