    Internet connection keeps dropping

Hi, my sister is having problems staying connected to the internet. She has a Dell Inspiron 537MT with an Intel celeron processor and 2Gb ram. Dell tech support as well as cable tech support has not been able to figure out why her connection keeps getting dropped. It only lasts for a few seconds but it happens often. I was just wondering if you had any suggestions that might be causing this to happen. The cable company has replaced the cable lines that run from the pole to her house so we know it is not because of bad cable. It is a broadband connection through Comcast cable service. Thank you for any suggestions you may have, Frankie Zacharias

Have you tried connecting your ISP? Is it all good at their end?

Yes, she had them come out and they replaced one cable line that went from the pole to her house and that didn't help either. She called Dell tech support and they took remote control of her computer and changed some settings and that still didn't help. We are at a loss as to what to do now. Broadband is much better than DSL but for some reason we can't get her broadband connection to run properly.

Have you tried using the Command Prompt (Start>Run>CMD)
    Code:
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /release
or try disabling any software firewall, including the Windows one?
pacman -Syyu life not found in sync db

Thank you everyone for the suggestions, we have already tried all the options given. She is connected directly to the modem, there is no wireless router because her desktop doesn't have a wireless card in it. When she had DSL she had no problems with losing her connection, but for some reason ever since she switched over to broadband the conncetion drop keeps going in and out.

is she connected via usb or lan? ,if its usb the see if theres a driver update for the modem
if its lan you could also look for a update ,also try setting up a static ip on the lan

    ps, DSL is broadband
