Adding Second Computer To Router
Hi all, I am a brand new member with a question. I have Verizon DSL. I have a laptop running Vista Home Premium with a wireless connection to my modem/router. I have aquired a Dell desktop and I am wondering if I can connect the desktop directly to the router with an ethernet cable without causing a problem with my wireless connection on my laptop? The desktop is running XP. I am not familiar with XP so how would I go about connecting to the internet (like "connect to" on my vista computer.) Hope this makes sense.

Yes, if the router has a place to plug the cat5 into

Connecting it directly to the router SHOULDNT interupt your wireless..
I currently have my PC connected directly into the router with my other PC connected wirelessly and they both work fine

Connecting wirelessly and non-wirelessly to the router will work without a problem.
There are 2 laptops, 1 iPod Touch connected wirelessly and 1 Desktop Computer connected via ethernet cord; all connected to my router.
If in any case connecting via-cable doesn't work for you, get a wireless adapter and use that to connect.
Here to prevail on your failures.
