not sure how they can find my friends's real Ips
Hi Raymond and all,
Recently my friends were doing so file sharing through a web site,
and my friends were using hidemyip to hide their real IPs.
And then some days later they received some warning letters saying that if they
didn't stop file sharing, they would be sued against.
My question is that my friends were Proxy server to hide their real IPs,
so I am wondering how they can find my friends's real IPs and where their living addresses?
Are there any tools out there to convert proxy Ips back to real Ips?

Man..... I wouldnt bet 150k on HideMyIp. They need to set up a VPN or use something like Retroshare.

Hi there is a PHP script to track visitors ip. The PHP may not return the real IP address of the visitor/user at all time. If visitor/user is connected to the Internet through Proxy Server then the PHP will give the IP address of the proxy server and it will not be visitor's/user's IP address. It is a good subject how they can find the real ip ??? Any one have any idea??
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

No matter what software or what kind of service you use to hide your IP. You cannot hide it from your ISP. Tell me how does your ISP know your bandwidth usage?
Does it make sense?
Change your ISP service provider is the only solution you have if you want to use file sharing.

In Retroshare website they say you can use file sharing without the ISP being aware of...
Screw Google! Ask me!

Thanks ALBOGUY for the info. I've just checked the RetroShare website these are mentioned there.
RetroShare is encrypted, meaning high privacy: nobody, including your ISP, can see what files you're sharing.
RetroShare uses a special version of industry standard Openssl library, trusted by banks and other organizations
Sounds great

Be careful with encryption, though. Most clients don't do it right.
