    Hi welcome.
all I can say your college LAN administrators are wise persons.
Usually a person joins a college in order to study, not to waste time and put at danger computers.
P2P programs are among the main channels of infections.

    Have a nice stay:P

i don't think if p2p is blocked there is a way out, as the admin would block all ports except the one's for http & email.

    on the limit, again no..

Believe me...if they've blocked p2p and torrents they have also blocked the ways you can use to access their sites.

    Screw Google! Ask me!

Probably you are from India and colleges here block p2p.first of all some admins here block only downloading of ".torrent" files.there is a way around to bypass this and you can download them in txt extension.secondly they block specific ports, then you can even use the port your browser uses to bypass this. Then use a very less known client such as Halite. These are methods used by my friends in Their college.

mostly network admins at colleges are professors and not dedicated admins so they tend to follow only simple methods for blocking.

After all you have gone to college to study and not to download things. All the best for your studies.

You can use Opera browser for Downloading torrent. There is a option in opera:config (in the address bar type this and hit enter). This is another way but i think you have LUA(limited user account) in your college. If not then just download and install opera & try. Hard luck .
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

You guys notice the limit on the file?

I have a feeling hard luck jack, you've got to use what you've got... and use the 'sneakernet', get it from others.

Block P2P in college is ok.
But download limit of 150mb single file? I will try to stay away from that college.

Hi and welcome to the forum. My uni has also blocked p2p connection but we manage to download torrents by using mTorrent (mu-torrent). We cannot download othen than using that software. I am not sure but you can try it. If that does not work, you can use torrent2exe. I have posted an article about this: Download Torrent Even P2P Is Unallowed just for your reference.

For the downloading limit, I don't think there is anything can be done about it. Maybe form a Student's Union and file a petitition to the IT team about it. Because 150MB(per day?) seriously?
