1. Install your printer.
2. Open your Control Panel, then open your "Add or Remove Programs" then click on Click on "Add/Remove Windows Components" located on the left side of the dialog box
3. Now Put a check on "Other Netwrok File and Print Services" then click "Details" make sure that the "Print Services for Unix" is selected. (you may need your XP CD and a reboot)
4. Open "Printer and Faxes" then right click on your printer then "Share", give your printer a share name t (ex. "HP1012d" quotations not inclucded). Also give static ip. This Share Name would later be used as the Print Queue on your Linux machine & windows 7 mechine .
5. The Windows Firewall may block Linux & win 7 machines from printing, turn off your firewall for the meantime..
6. Make sure that your Windows' IP number is Static.
now on windows 7 mechine
1. Control Panel==> add LOCAL (Yes LOCAL) printer.
2. Create NEW port==>Local port
3. Portname is \\XPMACHINE\printer name
chose TCPIP port
enter the IP address.
4. Now Windows 7 will load a driver and you'll be able to print on the XP machine.
Now you can acess the printer from the win7 also.
One more thing make sure both machines must be member of same workgroup.
And which linux you are using ??

I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

Use a central device like wireless switch or wifi connect pc's in it. Keep 2 windows machine in same workgroup. Now you can share file with each other. For ip setup have a look here(also help you to enable file sharing). If you follow the above process it will enable printer sharing between windows xp and windows 7. For printer setup in ubuntu look here.
For wireless network you can use wifi miniport as central device and wireless lan card in pc.
