Adaptor change?
Yesterday I looked in Network Connections on my PC, first time for quite a while, what I saw there left me both surprised and mystified.
The PC has a wired connection to my router through a Netgear FA311 NIC, and this is what has always shown against that connection, when I looked yesterday instead of showing the FA311 it was showing National Semiconductor DP83815 MacPhyter Fast Ethernet Adaptor? Until I looked that up this morning I had never heard of one.
I uninstalled the adaptor, rebooted, and the OS immediately picked up the 'new hardware' and installed it as the FA311 which it is still showing, I had to reset the IP and DNS settings and it works fine, as it always has.
What I cannot understand is that I have not updated any drivers for some time, I have not made any alterations to this or any other network connection, the FA311 was installed just under a year ago and has never shown any problems.
I do not have the faintest idea what happened or why, has anybody got any ideas?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Well I never found the answer and it has not changed since so all I can suggest is doing what I did, uninstall and let your OS pick it up and reinstall it, make sure you make a note of any settings you have added.
