Hi, all members!
I have got two PCs at home, which were purchased a few weeks ago.
They have not connected to the internet, because they are used for playing games.
I have just downloaded LF2 (Little fighter 2), and want to play double with my sister, but it needs to know the IP of the two PCs so that the two players can join together to play the game together.
Is it possible to connect the two PCs together without connecting to the Internet?

Yeah, you just need a crossover cabel and a simple ethernet card. Shouldn't cost too much, they're preety cheap to buy. After that, you just connect the two computers and set the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties. My advice is to set the first computer like this:
IP address: 192.168.1.200
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
And the second to:
IP address: 192.168.1.201
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Leave all other fields untouched and empty, save and exit. Make sure to turn off Windows Firewall too. It should work like a charm. Worked for me, didn't it? :D

Thanks for all the help!
Is an ethernet card different from a newtork card?
And how does a crossover ethernet cord look like?
-
Hello, again. Well, I don't think there's any difference between a network card and an ethernet one, they're all the same to me (it's just a synonym). It's the speed that counts, though. A crossover cable looks really simple, and is easy to spot.

And no, you don't have to be connected to the internet for the two computers to work, play games etc.

The crossover cable looks exactly the same as patch(direct) cable.
The only difference is that 2 pairs of wires swapped at one end pin 1 -> 3 and pin 2 -> 6.
So make sure when you're looking for the cable, make sure it's CROSSOVER.

Hey, no problemo, kwfine. Enjoy the game - Little Fighters 2 'cause it's really neat. I just might reinstall it to play with my friends.

I am sorry to bring this old thread back to the top again.
But I have another question related to this topic.
Do the two PCs have to install any drivers for their own Network card before the connection between them takes effect?
I have just reformatted one of the two PCs, and I couldn't find the driver disc for its network card, can the two PCs still see each other in this situation?
I mean if they can see each other without the installation of drivers for their network cards.
