My computer stops responding when connecting to internet, why?

I am using windows XP as default OS my computer stops response at the instance of internet acces even i can't get alt+ctrl+del (task manager)also I am also configure my firewall but no ......... and in an another partition I am using linux fedora there i have no problem with internet.At earlier in one partitionI am also use vista try version that also works wthout any problem. I am compleatly format my system (twice or more)and then reinstall xp but the problem still exist ,How i can resolve this problem? How this happens? I am sure there is no virus attack

When you format your computer and reinstall Windows XP, have you installed any drivers and software for this problem to reoccur?

(are u using modem for your connection?)

i encountered same problem before. what i did is i find a correct version of the installer of my modem.
