Internet Problem

I am having a BIG problem with my internet and before I call my provider I was wondering if Raymond and others could help me out here so I can do it by myself. The problem that I am having is that every time someone calls to my house my internet goes down and it connects back like 10 seconds after. First I really didn't know what was wrong but now I know because when I was playing CS someone called and it happened and well you know CS freezes and I got mad because I had a perfect score (12-0) and I died. So please if anyone could help me fix this problem I would appreciate it.

What kind of internet connection are you using?

From your IP address, I think you're using Embarq ADSL, am I right?

ADSL connections shouldn't be disconnected when phone is in use. Do you have a filter? If yes, try changing one. Also try changing the phone lines at your home.

Other than that, usually its the physical wiring. Many people with similar problems are solved by changing the wiring.

DSL filters is to prevent interference between the DSL service and your telephone. Glad it worked for ya ;)

Also, do filters increase the internet's speed? I got some new ones last week and my top download speed was 520kbps and now is 720kbps!
