Hmm, not sure if this is where I should post my question so I choose networking.

I am setting up a back up internet source for our office. We normally use satellite but last week we expierenced a week without internet due to a part going bad on our satellite and the closest replacement was half a country away. But the point is we were out of internet service for to long of a time.

What I did for a temporary fix during this time was hook up a laptop to my Palm treo and used it as a modem. I had to set the laptop close to a window because we don’t have good reception inside.

It worked OK at best but would have been ideal if I could have shared the internet connection with our entire office network. Versus them having to get up from their desk and go to the one laptop with internet connection to be able to email.

Anyways, it has been quite a while since I had to share a dial up internet connection with a network. If I go to network connections and right click/properties/advanced I can click share this internet connection with other users.

I haven’t tired this yet but I am a little tentative to try this because my internet satellite connection is working. If I share a dial up connection over my LAN will the two internet connections be able to work in tandem? Could this actually speed up my connection?

Anyways just wandering if I should give it a try or what your advice would be.

thanks
