I wan't to start up lan in my house again it used to be simple 2 computers just plug the blue cable into both computers and set up the network. But now it's more complicated we now have 4 computers so now we have to buy a router we are not planning on getting a wireless one just the traditional cables extending one end of the house to the other. Any information will be appreciated :) Thanx

Well.. if your house is big, like many Australian houses, you will need one with a fast speed because longer cables means some of the speed will be lost.

Also, if you are planning to use a router, and planning to save money, some routers can be used without having to use a PC's power so you wont have to keep on PC one if someone is using a PC at 2 in the morning.

:P lol you could put it on a server.. and then you can use the server to scan 1 anti virus to scan all of the pc's. Also, you could use Windows SteadyState to maintain your 4 PC's so if you have kids, you can add restrictions :D

i'm the youngest in the family and i'm 12 so the only restrictions would be for when my mums friends kids because they're 10 and 8 and the 8 year old is mentally retarded. so i wouldn't like him stuffing up my computer

Aren't servers really expensive but thanx now i know were i should put the router, in the middle of the house so i have a pretty balanced speed
