Hello,
The icon in the LAN traybar is always showing this message. I don't know what the heck is going on.
Also, my Ethernet Controller has no drivers and is currently placed under "Other Devices" in device manager. (maybe this has something to do with the LAN icon error?)
Despite all these issues, I am still able to connect to the internet, BUT when I start to load a new tab (FireFox 3) or site, it disconnects! ....At Random! and I'll have to power off and on the modem again to reconnect. This is very frustrating because it can go on like this for hours.
However, I noticed that when end certain internets program (eg. MSN Messenger), I can connect without restarting the modem.
Help?
:(
Tell the truth and shame the Devil.

Are you using DHCP? If yes try and make the ip adress static. This way, either you have a stable connection to your modem oor you don't have a connection at all

How is your modem connected to your computer? Via usb or network cable?
If it is network, then please make sure you have the latest Ethernet card driver. It'd really help a lot if you can provide a screenshot of your Device Manager.

I believe I'm using TCP/IP and the moden is connected through a network cable.
I don't understand how this help but here is the screen shot:

That's weird.. The screenshot shows that the ethernet controller is not installed properly. I'd suggest you to find the driver and install it.
You can use Unknown Devices to help you find the drivers.

OK I installed the drive for the Ethernet Controller, but that was for the Wireless LAN card (which I do not use) and the stupid icon is still trying to acquire a address...:o......:|......
There is another unidentified device :
PCI Modem
Intel Corporation 82801FB (ICH6) AC'97 Modem Controller
I tried to look for the AC'7 Modem Controller, but there is only AC'7 Audio available.
P.S: That's one nice little program, I've tried other hardware detectors but all have fail to help.

I suspect that it has something to do with the modem. I'd suggest you to try other modem if you can borrow from your friend.
