Greetings. First of all, i dont know much about computers and i'm new here. so if theres any mistake or wrong conduct of my post, let me know. i wonder if anyone here could help me with my streamyx connection. i registered streamyx early this year and everything was fine till about last these 2 months. my type of streamyx would be the "Streamyx In-A-Box 1.0M - RM99". The problem is the connection was performing smoothly before. i mean the speed of performance when i'm surfing the internet. but just recently the speed became slow. at first, i thought it may because my system has 'overweighted' with files and junks eventhough i do use spyware removal, windows washer, ccleaner and antivirus of course. so i formatted my pc and done my reinstalling windows (windows xp pro) and stuff. the thing is the connection are still slow as it appeared these last 2 months. i doubt this have anything to do with my pc. so i'm wondering if theres any way to check what's going on for sure other than calling the customer service again. i did call couple of times but the service was in its 'updating proccess'

Angela, I'm sorry to say that you can do nothing about it. Streamyx is well known for its unstable service. You just need to live up with it. Constant pestering to their operator might work. Try to ask them to reset your port. Sometimes it'll smoothen things up. But I doubt that there will be any difference.

I'd suggest you to test your connection speed first. Choose a recommended server.
    http://www.speedtest.net/

As for me, I managed to pester and prove to them to their connection had problems, so they change a new port for me and that fixed it. This is done on their side...

In my place, there are a few IP address ranges that I can get and there's only one IP range that I consider to be fast and stable. Every morning I will keep on reconnecting my connection to make sure that I get 60.50.x.x.
    60.50.x.x: fastest
    60.48.x.x: bad
    60.54.x.x: bad
    60.53.x.x: bad
    128.x.x.x: worst

Do take note that not all place has the same results. 60.50 might be the fastest to me but not necessarily to you. You'll have to test it yourself.

Nope, I am only using Streamyx via telephone line. I still think that the wireless internet is pretty unstable at some places...

My brother is using Wimax in his condo. Around his area, the signal is quite strong. So far he got no complains about Wimax. But the signal in my area is crap though. In my opinion, wireless coverage in Malaysia is progressing quite slow. The service is still unstable in many areas. Some areas don't even have wireless coverage. Not like our wired broadband internet is any better (Referring to Streamyx).
