wireless connect and disconnect continuously
I recently brought a d-link wireless n router. the routers my routers are connected is kind of weird. it goes from cable > internet modem > this router or modem that allow my family to have a Hong Kong phone number > d-link wireless router > my desktop. I'm usually on my laptop instead of my desktop, and a few days to a week ago the wireless internet is acting up weirdly. it would disconnect every 3-10 minutes sometime longer, and then reconnected in around 30 seconds. I have this gadget on my window sidebar that shows my connection and signal and it is not like 99% signal, and i'm like less then 10 meters away from my wireless router. do you know what could either be causing this problem and what I should do to fix this? thank you very much for reading this and hope to read your replies soon. Thank you very much again.

When you bought the router, did you first "reset" the router to default factory settings first? The manual should teach you how to login to your router with the default username and password, and you can reset your router from there.

yea, it is on default setting, i only disable upnp, changed the password and added a wep password

No yulittle, I didn't mean "default settings". I meant reset your router to factory default setting.

Maybe, i can help.
If i'm not mistaken your connection is like this:
internet connection > modem > d-link router > your desktop
Then it is correct. What you have to do is to log-in to your router. Once log,you will be seeing your d-link router main menu. Look for wireless connection option where you have to add your laptop NIC mac address. Once done, you have to configure everything: WEP key, password, channel to broadcast, networkname, etc. I think for d-link router there is one option: ALWAYS CONNECT, if the option is available you have to enable this. You have to do all of this in your desktop pc.

hmm, i just set my wireless to G instead of N right now and it is quite stable, but then for some random reason my desktop internet connection is AWFULLY slow....

it's because N is faster than G

the N and G stuff only applies for the wireless doesn't it? right now i'm talking about my desktop which is connected to the wireless router with an ethernet cable taking a long time to load anything for example google and hotmail
