LAN problem
My computer is connected to a LAN with 4 computers. The problem is that all the four computers can connect and view my files but I am not able to see any other computer.
I cannot even ping them.
Any idea what is wrong.

Windows XP or Vista? Are the firewalls turned off?
Failing to ping a computer is almost always a firewall blocking it.
Once you've turned off the firewall, check the following services whether are they turned on?
1. Computer Browser
2. DHCP Client
3. DNS Client
4. Network Location Awareness
5. Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
6. Server
7. TCP/IP Netbios helper
8. Workstation

These can be accessed by typing services.msc in run command.
Or simply click Manage in the right click menu of my computer.

5. Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
this service is ALWAYS on STARTED MODE it CANT be turned off cuz

without IT !
