router opinion needed
I'm thinking of buying myself a router for home. I want to share internet connection from ADSL modem to laptop (wireless and sometimes wired) and desktop (wired) and share data between two computers. Also secure wireless connection is important and protection from intruders, I would not want some of my neighbourgs spending my limited allowed internet traffic
.
So I guess I'll need a wireless router, but which one. Currently in market are available the following models:
1. Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless G Router price: 45 euro
2. Asus WL530gV2 pocket router price: 32 euro
3. Gembird NSW R2 price: 28 euro
4. Zyxel P 330W price: 35 euro
5. Belkin Wireless G price: 45 euro
6. TRENDnet TEW432BRP+usb adapter price: 45 euro
7. D-link DL524 price: 45 euro
8. SMC WBR14T-G price: 45 euro
9. Edimax 4P 6204WG price: 37 euro
10. Router Netgear 54 Mbps 802.11g price: 45 euro
There are some others but above the price that I'm willing to pay.
So if somebody has one of these, or is familiar with routers, is welcome to say his opinion. I must say that my favorite is Linksys WRT54G2.

hey jocker ,
if for me i will got for either Linksys WRT54G2 or D-link DL524 , i personally used that before switching to Linksys WAG200G ,
the model that your talking about is really good as Linksys is a division of Cisco . About setting up the router , it will take less then 10 minute to get it up and running . On the security issue , during the set-up it will prompt you on which security option you wanna choose.

Few years back I was using D-Link products and I can say that the product is so-so. It's cheap but it has its own small problems.
Out of all those brands, Belkin is a very good brand which is from US. I am using a Belkin router now

I agree, with Ray. I prefer the Belkin. I traded out my D-Link for it, and have been thrilled. I wasnt dissatisfied with the D link, nor any of the many linksys Ive owned over the years. The thought of trading back though, is not one I would entertain. I think I paid 70 (US) for it. I would and have recommend it to anyone.

Well, Linksys is a company of good reputation, that's why it's my favorite, but this model WRT54G2 is kinda new and it comes with internal antennas. That's why I wanted to know if somebody has experience with this model and how does this affect the range. I suppose that range will be smaller, but when I contacted linksys they claim that this is an upgrade model to the previous one. But that again they must say all the best about their products.
I must say that I have never before heard about Belkin, but over here it is been sold in a shop that only sells high quality products.
